Proven leader as a veteran firefighter chief
I am excited to begin my journey in running for the Maine House of Representatives in District 34 to include the communities of Glenburn, Levant and Kenduskeag. As a 40 year veteran of the fire service (currently Fire Chief for the Town of Hermon) and a dedicated public servant, I am ready to take the next step in living my commitment to Servant Leadership where one leads by serving others.
I am tired of the politics of obstruction and seek a return to the politics of inclusion, civility and respect EVEN when in opposition. Nothing is accomplished when "no" is the answer to every question. Elected officials must represent those they are elected to serve FIRST before self or party. ALL are entitled to effective, responsive and engaged representation regardless of color, creed or national origin. WE CAN DO BETTER!
"When a person voluntarily accepts a position of Public trust, they take on new obligations. If they do not want to live up to them, they are free to decline the job. Not only is this a fair demand but granting authority without expecting public servants to live up to it would be unfair to everyone they serve." Edwin J. Delattre

See what folks are saying
Climate change is real. We can pretend it isn't or wish it wasn't so, but the reality is in front of us every day. The introduction of invasive plant and animal species into Maine are creating challenges across all ecosystems and trophic levels! As we look to the current and future impacts of climate change, we must develop robust responses that help every organism to balance the chaos we have created.
I support the use of clean and renewable energy as they become available, whether that be wind, solar, tidal, etc.
We can't, however, expect Mainers to be burdened by unfunded government mandates.
Those at greatest risk in our state, be they at-risk children, elderly homeless, and homeless veterans, deserve our support and protection. The system is BROKEN. The DHHS has resisted a review of its policies, procedures, and operation.
I want to see substantive review and deliverables programmed into its recommendations. No person should be at risk while under the care of the state.
No one should be without or denied healthcare. The road to that outcome will not be a simple one though. I will support any program or plan that can assure that all Mainers have access to quality healthcare.
There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to housing. Developing positive public/ private partnerships that complement many government programs already in play should be prioritized to allocate housing to those who need it most.
In these times of inflation and high costs, the consumer needs to be able to make every penny count. There seems to be no interest by the government to have a consumer watchdog monitoring the cost of fuel, groceries, and other necessities at present. I would support the active reporting and enforcement of price caps where price gouging is shown to be taking place, especially when it comes to absolute necessities.
The second amendment has unfairly become a controversial topic over the years. I support the constitutional right to carry -as a lifelong shooter, former concealed carry, and small arms instructor.
